Are you aware that those tail ribbons have meaning?

The tradition of putting ribbons in the tail to send a message started during the peak of fox hunting in England. There were many riders, riding in a large group and there was no other efficient method to spread an important message to everyone about your horse. Today's show environment really isn't that much different; many well-intentioned riders/exhibitors packed closely with other unknown competitors and their horses. You may have seen the red ribbon in the tail, but there are three others, blue, green, and white.
