This isn't really a money-saving tip, but here goes... In the spring, instead of shedding the horses in the barn and having to clean up all the hair afterwards, I take them outside to do all the grooming. The birds are more than happy to clean up all the hair. Plus, its fun to find bird nests later that have the horse's hair woven into them ;-)
