Suggestion for pawing problem

From Sarah in CO:

My horse used to paw when he was in his stall waiting for his food.  For about a week, every time I went out to prepare his meals, my daughter would stand in front of his stall with a water bottle set on full-stream. The second he started to paw she would squirt him in the face with the water bottle.

He figured out quickly that the pawing wasn't producing the results he wanted and we haven't had a problem with it since. Since it was just a stream of water - it didn't hurt him a bit.  Much safer than the damage all that pawing could have been doing to his hooves and legs!
