Tip from Kathy in MI:

I have a tip for making a lightweight hay bale/flake carry rack. Use 2 lengths of old broom handle (or other rounded wood) approx. 18” long. Drill 3 holes in each piece, about equal distance apart (the holes should go all the way through the wood). Run one end of a length of baling twine through the hole and knot it; repeat with the second and third pieces of twine. The knots will keep the twine from pulling all the way through. Repeat with the opposite ends of twine and the second length of wood. Lay this on the ground and center a bale (or flakes) of hay on the twine. Pick up both wood handles to carry. Hang from a hook to keep it from twisting. I may, in the future, add 2 more lengths of wood near the center to give a heavier hang to the carrier (of course you’d have to knot on both sides of each wood piece).

Great tip - thanks! ~bethkay
