tip from Brenda in OH:
My tip is to keep a small jar of pure virgin coconut oil handy. The initial cost might be a little high, but it lasts a really long time. Any time I need to treat a cut, scratch or wound I use the virgin coconut oil on it. (after I clean it first) It seems to heal sores faster than anything else I've tried. I also use it on any areas that are irritated - pretty much on anything. The barn cats love the taste of it, so they get all excited when they see me getting out the jar! (You can use it on yourself and any other pets as well - great natural product!!)
great tip Brenda! - I've used virgin coconut oil too (make sure the jar says "virgin", regular coconut oil isn't the same) and had really good results with it as well. I have put it on Milo's tail when he rubs it and it makes a huge difference. The oil will liquify on hot days & harden on colder days - this is normal ~bethkay
